values & guiding beliefs

Every living being is, by its birthright, subject to respect, honor, love, & connection.
Spirit is in everyone & Spirit guides all healing. Spirit is in us, outside of us, and naturally in both at the same time.
Every living being is doing the best they know how. At the same time, there’s still work to be done.
The more we allow ourselves to fully experience who we are, the greater the possibility of change.

Picture
Somatic: The word somatic is derived from the Greek word “soma” which means living body. Somatic therapy is a holistic therapy that studies the relationship between the mind and body in regard to psychological past.

First things first

What I Do
I am trained to provide SE®; S.A.F.E. (Attachment) EMDR; the Safe and Sound Protocol; and NARM® Complex Trauma Modalities. I hold a dual Masters in Social Work from UNC Chapel Hill and Divinity from Duke. I am currently finishing my doctorate in Social Work (DSW) at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn).

The work

How I do it
I use a client-centered, relational, collaborative, and somatic approach.  I also employ a trauma-informed, culturally competent, and anti-racist approach with all my clients.

without a doubt

Commitment
I am committed to social justice and equality, and specialize in working closely with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and intersex (LGBTQI+) community, as well as survivors of emotional, psychological, sexual, religious, spiritual, and physical trauma.

GUIDING PRINCIPLE

"The greatest need of a child is to obtain conclusive assurance (a) that he is genuinely loved as a person by his parents, and (b) that his parents genuinely accept his love.... Frustration of his desire to be loved as a person and to have his love accepted is the greatest trauma that a child can experience." --W.R.D. Fairbairn, Psychoanalytic Studies of the Personality
